Advantages: The proteing subunit vaccination protects those with compromised or less immune systems
3. mRNA or RNA
This type of vaccine contains only genetic material with instructions for making specific parts of disease causing virus. Example Pfizer vaccine from Pfizer Inc. is an American multinational and Moderna from Moderna, Inc is an American pharmaceutical and biotechnology company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Advantages: Its considered very safe as there is no live components hence there is not rise of any disease triggered by the vaccine
4. Whole Virus
This type of inactivated type of vaccine contains disease-causing virus, whether weakened or dead. Example of Vacine in use: COVAXIN from Bharat BioTech, Hyderabad, India and vaccine Sinopharm and Sinovac from china – both use inactivated pathogens, therefore they cannot infect cells and replicate, but can trigger an immune response.
Advantages: This technology is a well established one and it helps people with compromised immune systems
